Last weekend I banned all the users I could, but now I find myself banning them again because it seems that once a user is banned they can still create new blogs!

I've seen banned users create new blogs, plus the banned email domains are being ignored (I did apply the patch found in trac).

How am I supposed to ban users? Do I have to ban both the user and the blog? Should I delete them?

Turn off the ability for users to create new blogs in Site Admin -> Options. Set it so that only blog administrators can create new blogs.

That would kind of defeat the purpose of having my mu setup.

    How did you ban them?

If the user still exists in mu, then yes - they will happily go on creating more. Delete them from the backend.

Then what good is to mark users as spammers since it wont do anything?

Anyway, I'll do a full cleanup this weekend then. All spam blogs/users.

Leave their info in the registration tables. That way they can't sign up again with the same email.

(Mark as spam is also available for comments, and also does not do anything. Not unless a plugin hooks into it.)
