    i just downloaded and installed later Wordpress MU, and it is giving me not found error or 404 error instead of post.

    Then ask your host if mod_rewrite is enabled on the server.

    i also tried using with out permalink as with ? mark but no effect

    If mod_rewrite is enabled and you are having this issue, it is either because Apache's AllowOverride is not set correctly or because your .htaccess file is not being read by the server.

    Check that AllowOverride None has been changed to AllowOverride FileInfo Options and that the .htaccess file is in the root directory of your WPMU install and is readable by the server.
