Well, the login page has no css.
The main page says it's not found.
    There's no posts.
The link in the header has the index.php hardcoded in it.

    What instructions did you follow?

ok I have a question , I will do it again step by step.
If I delete the folder wpmu on my server is it enough or do I have to delete something in the database? If yes , what?
    thank you

You don't have to delete the folder.

    Delete these files:
    - wo-config.php
    .htaccess (NOT htaccess.dist)

Drop all the tables in the database.
Then visit http://intevit.com/blogs/ and fill in the fields. If it tells you to create a config file, DON't. Come back & let me know if it says that.

The HTTP 500 error is a generic error message that Internet Explorer passes out to you when your web site errors for one reason or another; it provides no useful information at all. We can change this setting, as we shall see in a short while, to allow you to see and read what the real error is. Good error information is essential to the debugging of any application, and the HTTP 500 error causes much grief to folks that are new to web site development and test in Internet Explorer.

I filled out all fields and then I end up with :
    http://intevit.com/blogs/

Which displays in wordpress 404 error
and when I try to create a blog :
    Registration has been disabled.

It shoudl have come back and shown you a username (admin) and a password at the end of the install.

Also, it is still sticking the index.php in there. Ask your webhost if they force that.

I've been getting the same 404 error and it's telling me that registration is disabled.

I followed the install instrux to a T. (Didn't put in the www.) Got my admin username and password.

Then, when I go to login, I get a plain log-in screen that redirects me to a 404 page on the blog. That page also has the same odd index.php in the address (index.php/wp-login.php). I'm not inserting it. Network Solutions (host) isn't forcing it, though they know next to nothing about WP MU.

I re-downloaded and re-installed about 10 times (cleared cache each time after deleting files), and am totally boggled. Any ideas?

    Thanks so much in advance.

"Network Solutions (host) isn't forcing it, though they know next to nothing about WP MU. "

Don;t tell them you're using MU. Just say regular WP for now. Tho they may not know anything about that either...

If you're not typing it in, then the server most definitely is putting it in there. Somehow, some way.

I can't tell you what to fix without going and looking at it. And even then, doesn't mean I'll find it.

Thanks so much for your response. :)

    Here's the link. I'm baffled.

    http://jessicabmouse.com/cookingschool/

When I manually type in http://jessicabmouse.com/cookingschool/wp-admin, it bounces me back to the 404.

Sigh. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Because it's still stuffing index.php in there. There is nothing we can do. It's your host.
