i have a problem of blog upgrade after automatic update :

this pages gives my such a result :

" Warning! Problem upgrading http://subdomain.domain. Your server may not be able to connect to blogs running on it.
    Error message: Couldn't resolve host 'subdomain.domain'. "

usually i have no pb with my dns configuration :
i mean i have a wildcard and every subdomain is automatically created and reachable.

but if i do a new installation of wmpu with that type of configuration.
it does not work neither : i mean the instal program gives me a warning that maybe wpmu cannot resolve well subdomains.....

anyone do have an ideao about what to do to solve that.
because one day i will have to uprgade my blogs properly :)

if you are on the server can you ping those subdomains? Basically is the server picking up the wildcarded DNS?

you are true i can ping and access the wildcard subdomains from external instance, but the server itself cannot .....

this strange to my point of view

yes thank you about pointing the problem

i did not imagine that the situation could be different from my compture and from the hosting serveur.

But could you give me any directions to fix this problem ?

to me this is a weird situation that a remote computer can ping the wilcarded subdomains and not the server itself.
and i do not know where to look to fix that

At a guess the server is not doing DNS resolution using an external DNS source.

If its a *nix box try looking in /etc/resolv.conf and see if there are any nameserver lines.

it is a ovh european RPS.

but i see, the idea. My DNS serveur is effectivelly outside.

i do use everydns.com and i do not use the bind name included in my server

i will check if i can tell my server to look for an external nameserver
if not i will use bind
