I am having problems uploading images to my media center. Everytime I upload a file I get the following error:
The uploaded file could not be moved to the upload folder.

The permission are set to 777 on blog.dir as well as upload.

Any Ideas as to whats causing this problem

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same problem.

    Thanks.

Check with your host to see if safe_mode is turned on for your account. If it's on, turning it off may be a solution. Also check to see the ownership of the blogs.dir directory. The directory should be owner by whatever user whatever webserver (ie Apache) is actually running the wpmu install.

I am having the same issue and Safe_mode is set to off.

    could it be something else?

I resolved this issue by making sure the owner of the main blog in blog.dir was set to httpd

    ??

    :)

You may want to go back and assign ownership of blogs.dir to username:webserver where username is the name of your account on the server and webserver is whatever account the webserver runs under. That way you can gain access to the directories and files instead of having to get the root user to do it. Having that directory as webserver:webserver will cause you problems since you won't have access to them.
