Should I use WP or WPMU? (2 posts)

Hello. I would like to create a project for a school and was wondering which method I should use. Basically all students and teachers would become a user, which I think I have figured out. Then teachers would be creating either blogs (wpmu) or categories (wp) for their classes. For example Mr. Smith would have his 1st period history class as a blog or category. Within this blog/category he could post homework assignments or upcoming tests (as posts) and then students could comment on these. Also students could post in this blog/category to organize study sessions or whatever they want.

Along with teachers creating these blogs/categories I would want the students to be able to create new blogs/categories as well for after school clubs or sports or whatever else. The point being is that I would want all the users (teachers and students) to be able to create blog/category and for everyone to be able to post in any blog/category without the admin (me) having to manually add new blogs/categories or add users to each blog.

    A few other things:
    1. I like the idea of having those subdomains that WPMU uses like math-club.highschool.edu. Can WP do that also?
    2. If WP cannot do subdomains, can it do highschool.edu\math-club\ as the category and then the posts within be highschool.edu\math-club\?p=123? Everytime I try to change the category one it looks like highschool.edu\category\math-club\
    3. I would like all the new blogs/categories to have the same theme. Obviously that is easy if I use WP since they will automatically have the same theme, is it easy for WPMU to default to the same theme throughout?
    4. Can all this be done through the frontend? Creation of blogs/categories etc. I have found theme-my-profile and theme-my-login so it would seem everything from the admin page can be done through the frontend correct?

    Thanks all for any help.
