hi,
i am going to get a hosting account from a friend of mine
i want to host a wordpress-mu installation with about (100 -> 300) blogs
every blog has about (2500 -> 5000) visitors/month >>>> (micro niche sites)
is 10 GB bandwidth and 1 GB disk apace enough for that ???
thanks
No, you need to do some arithmetic. 1GB shared between 300 blogs is only 3MB per blog. Or 2 floppy disks.
I could say "what is a floppy disk" or I could say I remember when floppy disks only held about 180K ;-)
*sigh* Youngsters. I remember tape drives and platters the size of washing machine tubs.
And it's really RAM you need to pay attention to.
If the niche blogs have very few uploads, and the traffic stays light, you *could* get away with it.
(I think I have a box of 3 /14" kicking aroudn here somewhere, just because.)
dont get me started on paper tape and teletypes ;-)
Those would be the 300MB disk stacks that you had to have "washed" every few months.....
The irony of this is I'm sitting here looking at oc-48 providers and their pricing.
edit: Back to the original poster: How much space are you planning on using per each blog? Are these blogs going to be active blogs with new content or are they going to be setup and forget after awhile.
10 gigs a month isn't much for even a semi-active blog. I host blogs with 1k eyeball views a day and they do at least 15 gigs a month. (I think my math is right.)
He said micro niche sites, so I'm guessing a few pages of relatively static content. Set, forget.
thanks for help
yes that's right andrea
but the main blog is very active one
so i suppose 10 GB wont be enough
i will consider your advices and rethink
thanks for every thing
