Adding a link with no URL - bug? (3 posts)

    Hello,

I'm building a site where a lot of the content is just links to external systems. I've been trying to use links for non-approved uses (to create a bullet list where some stuff is links, and some stuff is just text).

However, this doesn't quite work. And yes, I wouldn't expect it to, except for one thing...

When I try to add a Link, but don't supply a URL, WordPress still says "link added" - but the link doesn't show up in the list of links.

    Hmm.

Are you assigning the link to a category? You have to do that to make it show up.

Yep, I was assigning a category (but leaving the URL field blank).

When I do that, WP says "Link added" but no link is actually added. I did check the database to confirm.

As a user, I would definitely prefer an error message. Is this something that should go to WordPress Track, or MU Trac? Or is this a moot point w/ the impending arrival of WP 3.0?

I tried adding a link w/ a URL of n/a, and THAT worked... So I think my next step is to add a filter which will produce plain text when the URL is set to n/a...
