    Hello,

I've been developing/deploying with Wordpress and am considering moving to Wordpress MU.

I was wondering how the search functionality works, and if it's possible to search across multiple blogs at once?

Clicking on one result would take you to the right blog, and each blog would have a different theme.

I kludge it with the sitewide tags plugin.

this pulls all posts into one blog, and they retain the original permalinks.

    Thanks for the reply Andrea.
Are you refering to this plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/

Do you then make the search box redirect and search that one blog? or can you have the search results from the site wide blog display in the blog the user is currently viewing?

Yes, that one,. And no, I do nothing to the search box. :) It will search the posts on that blog. since you've now got copies of all the posts as they are made - voila! site search.

No, it only works from that one blog. No one has built a better solution yet.

    Great thank you.

We're still looking at options, individual WP blogs VS WP MU, but your help is very much appreciated.
