Using a addon domain with cPanel (3 posts)

    explanation...
    1 host - with own domain OWNDOMAIN.COM
    with files in /public_html/

    1 addon domain ADDONDOMAIN.COM hosted on the first.
    can be accesed also with ADDONDOMAIN.OWNDOMAIN.COM
    /public_html/blog

    so i installed WP in ADDONDOMAIN.COM
    it is working for me admin, it is working to register new users but theblog is not accesible with the address NEWUSER.ADDONDOMAIN.COM

    what can i do...
    in my hostin cp i can make subdomains subdomains.addondomain.com so... i supose i have activate wildcards.

    i observed 1 think...
    if i make with hosting cp a subdomain for adondomain is not created in /public_html/blog who is the folder for this. it create me a new folder in /public_html

    any help pls¿

    Thread relabeled. Topics are there for a reason.

    Using an addon domain for a WPMU install is not recommended. You wind up doing a redirect of a redirect of a redirect with your webserver and that's the quickest way to get your host mad at you if you put any weight on your box.

    I also tried this initially, and could not get it to work. Gotta get another account or upgrade your account so the otehr domain has its own cpanel.

    And no, you do not need to do anythign with the subdomains and cpanel - the host has to activate wildcards for you. All the users subdomains are VIRTUAL which means they do not exist on the server.
