How do we keep track of what WP version is MU using? and would hitting the upgrade button actaully do the upgrade to the newer wp?

the "upgrade" button is not to upgrade your installation to the newest version, but to reset all settings that are competing between the main settings and your clients ones... like when you install new addons or change features.

actually, the WPMU is close to WP 2.0.4... but as there will always be a lot of differences in the codes because of the sharing of information, we can't follow the exact changes of WP... and sometimes it's not useful... WP 2.0.5 is a bugfix, most of these bugs did not occur in WPMU so the change is not needed...

Actually WPMU is more towards 2.1 than 2.0.5. Easy way to tell is how it combined post and link categories.

Is the MU 1.1 beta close to the WP 2.1 ?
Or is it close to the WP 2.0.7 and will the MU 1.1 be much like the WP 2.1 ?

Just wondering after reading that the WP2.1 has over 550 bug fixes...

If you'd SEARCHED FIRST, you'd have found several topics on this, and know that MU is at and above 2.1, and already getting some of the 2.2 code added in.

The nightlies are bleeding edge 2.2 pretty much. You can follow along by looking at the trac.
