I initially posted in the regular word press forum by mistake, so please disregard and/or delete that thread.
We are interested in creating an online blog service to rival many of the great free and paid services on the net.

Our main development team is busy on software that affects our core business. So, I have the task of exploring open source alternatives to use to speed time to market.
Of course we have realistic expectations. We know that greatness does not happen instantly.
We do have a base of users to market the product to, and a few twists we have already developed to make the service better than others out there.
However, we do need a development team familiar with the word press software to upgrade the system to meet our needs, and assist our staff in getting familiar with the code. I really mean TEAM! As I doubt this is a smaller project.
Our needs are basically to increase the multi-user version of word-press for community usage. Right now we are also considering drupal and commercial solutions as well.
