Hi, did anyone try to create private categories in wpmu? I know it's been done in wp:

but it seems to be an issue in wpmu (the solution above won't work here). So... any hints?

try the category visibility plugin. It worked before (I haven't retested it with 1.2.1, but there is a beta9 to work with wordpress 2.1 so it should work.

hi, no i am actually looking for a security device. visibility alone isn't helpful. would it be possible to secure it the same way you do with posts?

I'm not sure what you mean by security, but this plugin doesn't just hide a category, it can restrict its access by user level.

The plugin will hide a category from any of the following:
    front(page), (category)list, search, feed, archives
It will also allow you to restrict access to users by their user level. This is not a sitewide setting, so I don't think it would apply to sitewide categories. I think each user that wants their blog entries in that category invisible would have to set it up themselves, or you would have to setup wpmu to intialize the setup when a new blog is created (which is beyond me at this time).

    Does that help?
