    Hi,
I have apache 2.24, mysql 5.0, php 5.2 on my windows xp machine. I am testing wordpress mu so that I can install that to my hosting account. I have tested the regular wordpress installation in the same platform with no problem. Since I need mutiple blogs, mu would be the best.

I have done the things that in the README file except the dns bits since it is a local machine and there is no nameserver

When I try to install the wpmu, I got the following error:
"Installing to http://localhost/ is not supported. Please use http://localhost.localdomain/ instead."

I am lost at this, anybody can help?

I gather then you're trying to install it as localhost? :)

You need to tell us your setup to provide instructions on what to change. Basically it's modifying your local HOSTS file and defining localhost.localdomain as 127.0.0.1 but without knowing what OS and server software you're running, we can't give specifics.

You may want to search the forums for localhost as this has been covered many times in the past.

I also have same problem. I am using XAMPP Lite on my windows XP Pro machine. I tried to find adn edit 'hosts' file in my %root%\system32\drivers\etc\ folder but I can't see it. If I try to add new file with 'hosts' name it prompt 'the file is already exist'. Please help.
