Lost smilies on Pages (4 posts)

I seem to have lost my smilies on Pages all of a sudden... (Or maybe not; I might just not have noticed)

I'm using the wp-grins plugin for clickable smilies, but I'm thinking the problem lies elsewhere...the clickableness works fine, but they're not being parsed correctly, for some reason.

In posts, smilies seem to work fine; on Pages, they only show up as their ascii counterparts, and in comments (this really confuses me) they seem to work fine unless the post opens with a smilie. In that case, it's printed as regular characters, but all those after are graphics.

I've checked out the swap code in functions.php, and everything there seems to be in order... does anybody have any idea what I might look at to explain this behavior?

    Thanks,
    Jeff.

Did you try turning off the plugin just to see if that helps?

Yikes. Plugin off, I get no smilies, posts or Pages. Plugin on, well, spotty performance. I just tried a Page in a clean blog, and :) Test :) gave me [graphic] Test :)

Maybe I should just start from scratch...is the single line in functions.php the only thing that handles smilie-to-graphic conversion? Or is it dealt with elsewhere, as well?

Sorry JMF for posting this here but i'm getting a bizarre BBPress error when I try to make a new post. Here was my original posting, hopefully a mod can move it:

Title: Comment URL Abbreviations Not Working

    Post:

In a regular wordpress post, a long link might be shortened as follows:

    Original link: jinnzaman.hadithuna.com/feed/

    Shortened link: http://jinnzaman….hadithuna.com/feed/

In a regular wordpress post, hovering over the shortened link will still point you towards the full URL and the link can be followed.

But in a comment the same behavior does not exist. In a comment http://jinnzaman….hadithuna.com/feed/ points to http://jinnzaman….hadithuna.com/feed/.

    A non-existent address, and a meaningless link.

Has anyone else hit up against this?
