I was just looking at the various post tagging plugins around, and I still fail to see how a tag is different from a category (in wordpress terms). Anyone care to enlighten me ?

Posted 16 years ago #Tags don't show up in any sort of list like the categories do. They're not indexable like categories are.
Also some folks don't feel that Technorati and the other indexing sites actually see the wp categories as tags since the Technorati URL isn't included within the catgeory links. That came up ever so often in wp.com land.

Posted 16 years ago #In terms of the plugins running around here, there isn't any distinction. They're all based on using categories to provide the tags.
