There's a premium plugin that does it.

There's a non-premium plugin that added a second confirmation box for email. The author was going add signup password to it. Maybe you can contact him and offer your help.

    blogz you are right! :-(
    there is this plugin http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/set-password-on-wordpress-mu-blog-creation

but i'd be crazy to pay $25 for that plugin.
I dont know why wordpress is not implementing this feature. May be they want us to buy that crap plugin.

I suggest to tone down a little, OK?
It's really not polite to call things you don't know crap.

At premium you pay money for ALL their plugins, themes, and add-ons plus access to premium forum.

And if you do serious projects on WPMU - all premium stuff is really helpful.

Nobody forces you to pay - you can sit and code plugins yourself. If you want WP/WPMU to implement some feature - go suggest it or even better - provide a good code for it.

Sorry if I sound rude, but statements of this kind make me angry.
