I am finding mixed results. If a plugin was updated for WP 2.5 then you can assume that the corresponding WPMU 1.5 plugin will also need to be changed. If the old plugin works on the new 2.5 install, it might work with WPMU 1.5
I am running a TRAC install of WPMU 1.5 RC1 and 85%+ of the plugins work from my working installation. The other ones that don't I am working on changing, finding the 2.5 plugin to work on or just getting rid of them.
