install wpmu 404 error and no return e mail (3 posts)

    i have the wordpressmu files in a folder in my public_html
    how do i move them to the root directory?

    when i installed at htt://www.mywebsite.com/wpmu/
    i never got the email with my password etc.

    now when i try to go to htt://www.mywebsite.com/wpmu/
    all i get is the 404 error!

    can anyone help!!!!!!!!!!!

    You are missing a p in de URL: http// maybe is that.
    And to move the folder to the root, I don't recommend it, because if you need to use your root for information pages or for an initial front page for your blogs, you can mixed up things. If you leave it inside a folder you can easily redirect it or link it to this folder.
    In any case, if you insist to move it to the root of your webserver, I need to know if you have Cpanel installed to manage your web server, with the file manager option.
    Also, you need to rewrite .htaccess file, and your Wordpress config file, in order to remove the name of the folder where the first installation was, and leave it with just the root path (Eg: http://www.yourwebsite.com)
    If you have Cpanel, and don't want to move your Wordpress to the root, there is an option in Cpanel, named: Redirects, under the Site management section, where you can easily redirect the index.htm first page of the root (Eg: http://www.yourwebsite.com/index.htm) to the folder where your WordPress is.

    can you give me some more detail about this ?

    an option in Cpanel, named: Redirects, under the Site management section, where you can easily redirect the index.htm first page of the root (Eg: http://www.yourwebsite.com/index.htm) to the folder where your WordPress is.
