Hi all, is anyone here going to WordCamp UK in Birmingham (that in itself is enough to put anyone off) this year?

    http://uk.wordcamp.org/

I, unfortunately, will be off performing daring deeds for charity that very weekend ( http://www.justgiving.com/trailrunners ), but if someone with a certain level of competency and a laptop wanted to give an unofficial demo of some parts of the StayPress system, then I wouldn't be averse to helping get said laptop set up (I had an offer from one of the readers of my blog, but they are no longer going).

Alternatively, if anyone is in the Brighton Racecourse area on the Sunday (20th) and fancies a jar or two then pop me a line.

    Anyone playing COD4? I'm serious :)

I would like to come to Birmingham but it's so far away from Croatia. MAybe next year. However, if there's anything I can help you with (talking about StayPress of course), please let me know.

@cafespain - well, we only play twice a week and you don't need a console. PC is enough. But I think you're using Mac, right?

LOL, guess where I was born and spent the first 18 years of my life :D

Although given that I'm now 12,000 miles away in Melbourne, Au, I think you might catch me agreeing with you on some points.

Which isn't to say that there's much going for that hovel on the coast ;)

Ha ha - though sometimes (like at this very moment), I think fondly of the UK, and think I could even be able to listen to a brummie speak without my mind suddenly shooting back to that awful advertisement "We wanna be together"... :)

You do understand that the advert mentioned will mean absolutely nothing to most people on the planet.

However, I had forgotten it before you mentioned it, but now wonder whether the person who spoke those lines was in fact Timothy Spall(?), the now reasonably acclaimed actor.

    Was that his big break?

nocomment: I realised that as I posted, so I've spent a few minutes trying to track it down.

Skip through to 1 min 26 seconds for it's full glory. It featured Mark Williams, who later featured in the Fast Show sketch show.

For fear of actually answering the original question, yes myself and a colleague will be going. We might Qik.com some stuff so anything we'll do, I'll make available. We'll be encouraging a bit of discussion on MU as not much is billed so far on that, rather than just the 'sissy' wordpress.org ;-)

I understand Donncha is considering going too, which would be very good.

Birmingham was chosen for it's central location - you might be surprised at what a nice city it has become!!

Tickets are now on sale over at: http://wordcampuk2008.eventbrite.com/

    I'll see you all there!!

@ninjaboy - I'm not denying that Brum is definitely becoming a nicer city. But that doesn't change the accent :)
