Suggestion: Leaving some unused cells in Tables (2 posts)

    For a future version of mu, how about allocating but leaving some cells unused in the Edit Blog page: http://domainname.com/wp-admin/wpmu-blogs.php
    Plugins could use these cell values without having to create new tables.
    Call it developer1, developer2,...
    Alphanumeric type. I can imagine developers storing and pulling string values as arrays and splitting them for their data needs.

    There is room for expansion. The tables are created correctly. It doesn't make any sense to add fields that don't mean anything. Also, storing arrays in a single field breaks even first normal form. Don't worry, the system is designed such that plugins can add values without creating new tables. However, sometimes to keep good design, they must create tables.
