How to the Disable Activation Email (9 posts)

The activation email does nothing against the spammers, and I see Wordpress.com has dropped it. I want to get rid of it too to make signup easier and fast.

I already have other spam protection. Hashcash by donncha is working nice. Through searching, I found this post by donncha again (does this dude sleep?):

If anyone wants to make it optional, all you have to do is bypass the validation stage based on a site_option, and add a checkbox to wpmu options. :)

The problem is I don't know where to find what he's talking about :)

    Anybody ?

    Bump!

Some of my users have registered and havent received their mail. So I had to manually activate by grabbing the key form the database.

    Welp!

Dont think this one requires plugin.

From discussion in that thread 1 year ago, I gathered that it was decided that it will be made optional in the code.

I'm looking for the same thing, d_kc!

That plugin looks good, because it lets users choose their password at the start. Then, there's just one email: the email to activate.

I don't want to spend $50 to join WPMUdev Premium though. I'd prefer someone to just hand me the answer on a silver platter for free.

Disabling the activation emails is enough for me. I saw that topic from a year ago, but it makes no sense to me either.

It would be nice if this was in the WordPress MU core. You could disable activation right under Site Admin > Options!

Let us know if you find anything.
