What does Multi User Mean to You? (7 posts)

I think I must have misunderstood the term multi user.
I would like a site that will allow people to visit, sign up and create their own blogs, profiles, homepage.
Will this script to that? If so, please post a link to where I can find that documentation. I can only find Editor, Author, Subscriber and something else, but not blogger.
If WordPress MU cannot do this, do you have any suggestions on programs that can.
    Thank you.

MU does exactly that. Make sure you downloaded and installed the right set of files. Follow the readme to the letter when installing.

    Documentation is linked above:

I downloaded and installed this version: wordpress-mu-2.6.2. When it installed it asked if I wanted blog.domain.com or domain.com/blog. So I'm assuming I installed the correct version. It looks great, see: http://dazedangels.com/ (bright eye'd blink, blink!)
I have checked out the links above (thank you all, btw.) I've been reading the "Articles in category "WPMU"" I must be missing the one post that I need to bring it all together. I'll admit, I don't blog much. I don't know WordPress, I'm setting this up for a bunch of Moms who have asked for my help and I have to tell you I feel like I'm letting them down.
But now that I know I at least have the program I'm looking for (and that all of you are so nice and helpful) I'll do some more reading. Back to: http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress
Thank you all, I was afraid I was spending time on a program that wasn't what they needed.

    Read up at http://wpmututorials.com.

Direct your moms to the signup page. Should be a link to that right on the index of your install using the main home theme.

    If not, http://dazedangels.com/wp-signup.php.

make sure signups are open to registration. in the backend go to Site Admin -> Options.

andrea_r, if this was Answers, you'd get 10 points for best answer. That was exactly what I needed! THANK YOU!!

Now one more question (yeah right - like this is the last one - pfff)

Will this plug in work with mu?

Because if it does, that would take care of an entirely different problem.
BTW, I found this by clicking a link within a "user" admin (not the "admin" admin)
