Backslashes added to custom fields (6 posts)

I'm using the EmbedIt plugin to embed custom code (say from slideshare.net or vimeo.com) into a post or page.

For those that don't know, EmbedIt uses the standard WP Custom fields to hold code. You then reference that custom field in the post.

Since upgrading to WP 2.6, when I paste code into a custom field and click the 'Update' button, it puts one or more backslashes (\\\) around bits of the code (hence it breaks that field). However, immediately deleting that code, pasting it in again (from the clipboard) and clicking update then fixes the problem and all works well.

So it seems to be the first time a custom field is used, under certain circumstances, rogue characters get added which don't get added the second time its pasted.

Any ideas or has anyone else experienced this?

No one? I should highlight this is WPMU 2.6 not the standalone version.

I have the same problem and I'm using the standalone version.

I think this is a universal bug.

Then it probably should be brought up on the trac then.

You may want to search the regular forums first to see if it's been reported already as well.

Yes, but he asked if anyone else had the problem.
I just want to let him know it isn't confined to MU.

    Found solution!

Here's the patch to apply to get rid of them in your text fields...

This patch was added October 19th.
