Hello!
I am trying to configure MU to use subdomains, however I want the main blog to be a subdomain as well. For instance, I want the main page to be http://blogs.somedomain.com and I want to create blogs bases on http://newblog.somedomain.com (I am using http://somedomain.com for another site). Any suggestions?

Simple.
The main blog itself is just another blog on the system. You can create a subblog named "blogs" and add all your main blog things there like sitewide tags, recent posts and such.
Incorporate your existing site as the main MU blog. If the existing site was already single user wordpress or something, it should be no problem. If it wasn't, then you'll have some converting and template work to do.
