problem with bbpress and WP MU integration (10 posts)

I posted for help in the bbpress forums but got no help. I feel more at home here anyway.

I just integrated bbpress with my WP MU installation. I tried to use this method:

since all posts that I saw about this issue on this forums leads there. But it didnt work for me.

Next, I ran the bbpress installer while activating the wordpress integration part. Everything ran smoothly, but at the end, I got this error:

Things are working pretty fine on the bbpress side but I had these problems with my WP MU:

    1. Login authentication is failing with the passwords that were previously working fine. these passwords were use to log in smoothly in bbpress.

    2. Resetting passwords worked and I could log in, but once I log into bbpress with the new password, I got logged out of WP MU admin area and the new regenerated password stops working for mu whilst still working for bbpress.

    3. Prior to installation. I felt that once a user is logged into mu, they should be automatically logged into bbpress. this is not so, and I feel something is wrong.

Perhaps, its something with cookies or more than that but I'll need help pretty fast.

freshestnoob, the problem is one that I was experiencing also.

You need to download and install (in your my-plugins) folder, the following plugins:

    http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/mouldy-old-cookies-for-bbpress/

    http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/md5-insecurity-for-bbpress/

After you download them you will need to rename them to have an underscore before the filename so that they load automatically.

This problem occurs because the newest version of bbpress processes cookies and passwords in a different way. This plugin essentially tells your installation to continue using the old techniques. When you upgrade to WPMU 2.5 you will need to remove these plugins for your installation to work. The above fixes should correct your problem out of the box, but if you run into any trouble try this thread:

I was really really wondering why andrea's technique didn't work at first.

After installing the plugins, everything worked like a charm.

    Thanks a million, Suleiman.

I'll add that info to my post. Looks like it runs a 50/50 chance of working without it. Weird.

Ok, sorry to bring up an old post, but I need some help. I followed the instructions at http://wpmututorials.com/how-to/integrating-bbpress/ and things work, mostly. I am using Wordpress MU 2.7 and bbPress 1.0-alpha-6. I installed MU with subdomains and have bbPress running as a subdomain - all works great.

But, the cookies aren't integrating. I can log in/out of either site no problem, but if I log in on one, I also have to log in on the other. If someone could help me find the problem I would appreciate it. I posted my configs (part of the) at pastebin:

    Wordpress: http://pastebin.com/f727ada09
    bBPress: http://pastebin.com/d79cf2b3

Thanks for any help. Like I said, the only thing that doesn't work is the shared login part.
