as im still new to wpmu and hosting,
what are the best precoutions to prevent being hacked?

- Make sure that your WPMU is up to date.
- Make sure your host is keeping their software up to date.

also, after installation I went through and changed the permissions on some of the directories. The only directories that I have 777 on are wp-content/cache and wp-content/blogs.dir
Everything else is set as normal. When upgrading I go through and change permissions as if I was completing a fresh install, then as soon as I am done with the upgrade I set them back.
So far I have no problems, but then again I have a limited number of blogs, we very infrequently add them. -
