I had no idea that 2.6.5 was out. I don't have an upgrade notice in the admin section. I'm still using 2.5.1. If I upgrade now, will this break my site (was any actual code changed), or is it just a seamless upgrade?

I upgraded with no problems at all so just follow the normal upgrade instructions and you should have no problems
