This is odd - I removed the multisite plugin and not sure if this has anything to do with the matter but it shouldn't. I can no longer switch to different blogs under the main login and get routed each time to go to a new install under the blog's subdirectory.

My site is mysite.com and login is mysite.com/wp-admin
Going to mysite.com/blog/ should just be a menu item. When I try to switch to that blog in the menu using the dashboard i am redirected to mysite.com/blog/wp-admin/ which obviously doesn't exist and won't login. This didn't happen before and is obviously a problem of something or some setting.

has anyone seen this behavior and would know how to correct it? I have removed all traces of multisite that I can see, including the plugin.

Got this fixed and hope this helps - it required a complete reboot of apache after resetting the wp-config.php file. Try that and it should work as the alias as it should.

What I still do need is someone to help me get the multisite plugin to work, even paid! Every time I create a new site I get a "No WPMU site defined on this host. If you are the owner of this site, please check Debugging WPMU for further assistance."
