Teachers in our school district have no difficulty uploading a Word 2000 document, but when audience clicks on link to open Word document, it opens fine but freezes and the only way to get out is CTRL|ALT|DEL and end program (and it takes several clicks of End Now). How do we keep the Word documents from freezing when opened?
can you give an url as testlink? do you happen to have any script/plugin active for counting downloads? that might interfere, making the browser hang and thus the whole pc?
with what browser does it occur?
Try http://blogs.monashores.net/hellmannk and click on the February newsletter link.
We don't have a download counter, but on the root page (http://blogs.monashores.net) we have FireStats. I will disable that plug-in and test.
Browsers:
IE 7 - opened document freezes
Firefox - works great (closes immediately)
I disabled Fire Stats from this page and from the root page (blogs.monashores.net) but it still freezes in IE7.
hmm... works fine with FF3 and IE6 here, haven't got the IE7 here right now. Btw. it opened inline in IE6...
did I get this right, the whole PC freezes? Or does the browser freeze? or does word freeze when opening the document?
Word freezes. You can open the document, look at it, but when you try to close the document, it hangs. The only way to get out is to ALT/CTRL/DEL and Task List it.

It works fine for me in FF3 & IE7. Is this happening on more computers than just yours?
