Seems like any discussion on the topic is 5-12 months old.
Are there plans to build OpenID functionality directly into Wordpress?
I registered my family's surname and each family member that wants a blog gets their name.gehrisch.us. I'd really like for us to be able to use the Wordpress-MU system that I setup for us to provide OpenID authentication.
I tried the OpenID plugin. It worked, sort of, with 2.6, but it wasn't pretty. I upgraded to 2.7 last night and the plug-in broke completely.
I hope this is on the road map for a future release of Wordpress, since the plug-in route doesn't seem to be working.
