WordPress MU

In setting up a site, I seem to have run into a problem

If you click this link http://jzakhar.boldlygoingnowhere.org/burtbrother/

then click a category, you get a not found. I am very new to WP MU. Can anyone point me to likely causes please.

Do those categories have posts/pages?

go to the backend of that particular blog and go to settings => permalinks and simply save the permalinks again. if that fixes it come back here for mroe advice :-)

btw. are you using the new blog defaults plugin from deanna?

The categories had posts.

I ended up deleting the user. And recreating him. Then all was well..

I have not installed the new blog defaults yet. I am working out issues with the gallery plugin, as well as editing the templates.

I wish I saw this before I whacked his account!

I have the same 404 problem pops up every now and then maybe 3 out of 20 blogs. I also discovered that if you just reset the permalinks as you described above that would fix it.

I am not running blog defaults from deanna but I do have MrBrians blog defaults set up.

I would love to get rid of this problem so I can actually hide the permalinks tag from the menu bar so if you can add anything please let me know.

unfortunately I can't add much. I had the problem with deanna's plugin, which she has now updated, so the problem doesn't persists anymore.
To be honest, I replaced Mr Brians plugin with Deanna's plugin as it seems to offer the same and more features and now I don't have the 404 problem anymore.can you try this too?
btw. where do you get 404s? is it for pages/posts or is it with categories? I noticed some people get scared when getting 404 for empty categories, which is normal with a lot of themes...

They actually turn up on the posts/pages and like I said it doesn't happen all the time just some of the time which is the part that is driving me crazy because I can never recreate it.

I will try going to Deanna's plugin to see if that helps.

Just to let you know I installed Deanna's plugin and created 10 blogs and the problem hasn't appeared yet. Thanks for the tip.
