I have a domain with a CMS (Joomla) named http://www.example.com and i'd like to install WPMU in a subdomain but then I saw this warning about installing in root (which is not an option for me). Will i be successful by installing WPMU in a subdomain for example http://wpmu.example.com... and can i still use the virtual subdomains option?
You may be but you'll get stuck with http://myblog.wpmu.example.com and the like.
thanks for the quick answer... so this installation will work which is good and i can cope with myblog.wpmu.example.com and their friends hehe
Now to wait for a correction to the admin password so i can start up :D
Note the word 'may' in there. The forum here have many threads where it didn't work.
You can modify the admin password via the MySQL table using phpMyAdmin. Just make sure you set it to MD5 before you resave it.
MD5? mind a quick explanation?
I overrun this problem by hacking the email at phpMyAdmin, once you enter the correct email you can use the "forgot password" feature and it works like a charm.
A pity that in 30 mins I had 3 more php errors... I'm giving up on this one until it's Beta at least or has better support.
Thanks for the help to the users
