    As you can see, there is no subdomain for the link to activate, there for it errors out. So thats the problem. now our enviroment is a little crazy, ill explain.

    http://www.wpmuinstall.com (hosted on windows box with IIS)
    wpmuinstall.com (hosted on windows box with IIS)
    * wildcard hosted on Linux/Apache

    basically current website, and future blogs all come from the same domain, and look the same to the public... I suspect this is where the email weirdness is coming from. This was installed by setting editing local "hosts" file, and tricking the install into thinking it was being installed to wpmuinstall.com, which it is, its just on another server and has a couple of subdomains that are published on another box... So now that I have confused everyone, and I am likely an idiot, hopefully someone can offer a little insight. " even if it is, it won't work that way you idiot, I can take it :) "

    I didn't actually specify this very clearly, but the wpmu install is on linux, and apache.. a couple subdomains are hosted on IIS and windows though.

    "As you can see, there is no subdomain for the link to activate, there for it errors out. "

    You didn't do the wildcard subdomain setup. It's in the install readme.

    Do it on the apache box.

    the wildcard setup is there... I can go to "anything.wpmuinstall.com" and it gives me the option to setup a new blog. I also actually specifically said "* wildcard hosted on Linux/Apache"... any other thoughts? the only place I have seen the problem is with that one email activation link. Any other info I can give you?

    Have you tried setting up a test blog from the backend?
    If you go to a sub-blog that's already set up, does that work?
