Edit Blog: User Passwords (4 posts)

When we create a user (or a user creates him/herself), WP mails out a password, and the user (or site admin for the user) can change it. All clear.

On the Edit Blog page, right-hand side under the category Blog Users, there is a password field for each user other than the original admin for that blog.

Is this a blog-specific password, a password that user must use to access just that blog? Or what?

    Thank you kindly,
    Elchanan

It's a password for the user to use to login to the admin part of the site. It's site wide, but if they are only a user on specific blog, it will redirect them to that sites admin.

That's the same password. It's there and looks empty in case you have to manually change it for a user.

Thanks to you both. Andrea, are you saying that cafespain's explanation is incorrect, in that changing the password here has no effect on a user's permissions or access, it's just another location in which to change the password?

Or am I misunderstanding your explanation, cafespain?

    Thank you.
