WordPress MU

I've been trying to install wpmu in my root directory using my cPanel v3 file manager and following all of the instructions over and over again.

This is a fresh install, no previous wp installations. I delete mySQL everytime and start over again. As soon as I think I'm finished and visit my website in my browser, i get this message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mydomain.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Log into cPanel, and take a look at the error log.

It should show you the exact cause of the Internal Server Error.

It sounds like you have incorrect permissions on your public_html directory.

I would suggest contacting your web host with this error message.

Go to file manager in cpanel. Go to the public manager folder. The permission for files should carry this code 0755(which is the correct one). If any file is not with this code, then right click on the file and select change permissions. Untick the write option already ticked in group and world column. Apply this to every file.
Apache does not allow write permissions for a file to be given to group users. I had the same problem. If you change the permissions, everything should work just fine
