Posting bugs in Trac and testing things is the best way and would be very appreciated!
Yes, it's not possible to edit the themes, without using 3rd party plugins.

How do I post it? I clicked all over and can't find where to register/submit stuff.
Well, Im not sure, but I believe all themes would be stored in a single folder, to avoid repeated data, so, I think could be done something like 'blogroot/custom' where a CSS file would be stored and loaded just after all CSS of the theme are loaded up, overwriting the default stuff. This would also work for js codes. once .css and .js don't parse PHP, they are safe.
