I've tried to install WPMU the last few days, without any luck, and hope someone can help me. I think I tryed all possible combinations but I always ends up with the error: "No WPMU site defined on this host. If you are the owner of this site, please check Debugging WPMU for further assistance."
For the moment I have successfully installed WP and uploaded WPMU in the root. When I log in I get the error instead of the installation file.

When you log in?
You should just upload the WPMU files to the root, then visit the root of your site in a browser. Do not edit the config file first.

Ahhh ... I have worked on this several days in the belief WPMU was an AdOn to MU. Now I have installed it without MU and it works.

Huh? What are you talking about? WPMU is MU. You can't install WPMU without MU, because then it would be WP which is WordPress. You can install WordPress on it's own, but that's different software.
