I posted a question about finding my wordpress version, which has since disappeared. (Are duplicate posts automatically removed without notification?) Regardless, I understand that I can use the meta tag to figure out what version of wordpress I'm running, or I can also go digging through files on the server, but is this info available using the admin interface? Thanks!

Normally it shows in the footer of the admin are, but if a new version has been released, this is then changed with a reminder to upgrade.

    Hello everyone

I'm not seeing a version number in my footer, is there another way of finding out the version I'm on?

I'm using the CAS plugin so I'm logged in as a domain user who I gave admin rights to prior to switching CAS on, as I can't login as a user admin once it is.

    Thanks

done some more digging, found out you can find the version in the html source code

does anyone know why it isn't showing in my footer? I'm guessing if it's not showing then it won't show me if I need to upgrade either.

Sorry to start a posting deluge, but I can't see a meta tag in my source that shows me the version number either

    :-)

I'm wondering if I should have stayed in bed

I think it was removed from the front end HTML - there are scum out there who will use information like that to specifically target vulnerable systems. It'ss available on the admin back end which will also tell you if you need to upgrade.

    Hi SteveAtty

Thanks for getting back to me

On which page in the admin backend can you see it? I've only started playing with wordpress very recently so please excuse the dumbass questions.

In the admin area in the lower left.

Thanks everyone, I worked it out.

I took my CAS plugin stuff out so I could log in as admin, and now I can see it.

The other user I made with Administrator rights obviously does not have Site-Administrator rights, which I'm guessing are different.

How do I make a normal user, a user with a username that is in my domain(so I can use the CAS plugin) a Site Administrator?

Or do you just change the name of the admin user?

    Thanks again
