Viewing media outside of dashboard (5 posts)

I'm trying out and using 2.8.4a and see many unrealistic problems. I know developers like to try and make things idiot proof, but why have they removed the theme editing feature.

Why also are there so many problems with getting things to work outside of the dashboard environment? I installed the Unfilered MU plugin which fixed the problem of the post/page editor stripping everything (how stupid), and it views just fine if you click the preview button. Unfortunately, if I create a new browser tab and load the site, even though it still shows me (administator) logged in it will not display <embeded> html or most other html.

What the heck is going on? Do they think everyone has the time to create/debug fixes and such? I expected this to work out of the box just like wp, just with multiple user/blog ability.

Because it was originally designed for people to set up blog farms - Where you don't want users doing either one of those things, because to do so would be "stupid".

But if you're using it for a handful of blogs of your own, then there are workaround. unfiltered-mu may actually have a bug with the latest version, but it can't get fixed if no one actually reports it to the dev.

Enabling the theme editor again is actually well-documented many times, right here in the forums.

Time is something you must have a lot more of to manage a WPMU install. Period.

    From the WPMU readme ...

If you're not comfortable editing PHP code, taking care of a complex webserver and database system and being pro-active about following developments of this project then run, don't walk, to http://wordpress.com/ and sign yourself and your friends up to free blogs. It's easier in the long run and you'll save yourself a lot of pain and angst.

WPMU must be risk free out of the box for the SiteAdmins. Unfiltered html capability is too big a risk, even for SiteAdmins with much more at stake than a single WP install.

I'm not a master programmer, but I know enough about switches to know all it would have taken was to add an appropriate switch.

As far as something being documented many times in a forum, one would have to live on it to keep up with everything (as some seem to do).

As for andrea_r's comments, I've read many posts in the forum and notice you are great at pointing out solutions without links. Therefore, I will do a search.

    Thnx for your help.

The switches are there. Dozens and dozens of switches to flip with plugins. Have at it.
