    Hi,

I installed wordpress mu 2.8.4 to consolidate 4 different wordpress sites I manage. As we already have a non MU wordpress intall for the top level site, I did not use the wildcard domains but I am using subdomain style allocation.

    I started with this blog:

    support.eye.fi

    which works fine.

Now I want to migrate http://www.eye.fi but I am having trouble. I get a endless redirect. I've cleared cookies and edited the wp-config file.

Here's the url it is trying to send me to:

    URL: http://www.eye.fi
    Protocol: http
Date and Time: Thursday 01 October 2009 2:55 pm
    Additional Information: http://www.eye.fi/wp-signup.php?new=eye.fi

    Thanks.

You'll have to make the main blog eye.fi. WPMU strips off the www when doing the blog lookup. People should still find the site with the www in the address.

I'm sorry, that doesn't work for me.

I have been searching through some more forums posts and this keeps coming up. While I understand the value of having wildcard domains and unlimited blogs on demand, this is not my use case.

I wonder why the decision to eliminate the use of www had to be so hard coded and drilled into the process? It sure makes migration from a traditional wordpress site to wp-mu very difficult.
