Setting time zone for daylight savings time (6 posts)

I've searched all over the place and haven't seen this answered exactly for what I need so please don't throw things if this has been answered somewhere (send me the link, please!). If not, here's my question:

We have many, many blogs. I don't want to have to go in and manually change all the time zones to UTC - whatever to suit daylight savings time here in America every 6 months that this occurs.

When you have it set at UTC -4 (etc.) it says:

Choose a city in the same timezone as you.
This timezone is currently in standard time.
This timezone does not observe daylight savings time.

I'm supposing (from all the posts I've been reading) that it won't change when DST begins. But if you change it to the city it says:

Choose a city in the same timezone as you.
This timezone is currently in daylight savings time.
Standard time begins on: November 1, 2009 1:00 am.

So my question is (after that long-winded explanation): If you set it to the city, will the time change automatically on the blog when DST hits (and vice versa when it goes back to standard time)?

Is there a plugin that will change the timezones for all the blogs within an MU setting so that I don't have to change them per blog?

    Anyone, anyone?

Probably not but it would be easy to do write one or use powertools to do it.

Interesting. On one of my installs of 2.8.5.2 I have cities. In another, I only have the timezones.

Time to go figure out where they're different.
