I had a big error in judgment today by changing settings inside SiteAdmin/Blogs. I changed the Domain (first option) to another url and now the site is dead. But being new I'm not sure how I can manually find and change that setting. Can anyone tell me the filename/location of the file?

Here is a screen shot of the setting I changed.

I was hoping that making that change would enable new users to be emailed a URL of my choosing - not the default install url.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

You'd need to log into your MySQL database directly and look in the wp_site, wp_blogs, and the wp_X_options tables. Look for a "domain" entry and change it back to the install directory.

If you want to change domains from the install directory, search for Donncha's Domain Mapping Plugin. That's an easy way to change the domain from the installed one.

tmoorewp - Thanks a lot. I took your advice but I'm only half back - http://www.ryanrockwood.com - content seems to load but no theme or structure....it's obviously still going to the wrong site trying to get stuff and failing.

    Additional thoughts?

Search the db again for instances of the domain name that you changed it to. likely you missed one.

+5 on the domain mapping plugin.

"I was hoping that making that change would enable new users to be emailed a URL of my choosing - not the default install url. "

It won't do this bit tho. You have to create the blog, map it, and then when you add users to those blogs, they'll get it.

Hmmm, you might want a multi-site plugin instead, depending on how you're using the different domains.
