WordPress MU

I've been on the chat support with Hostgator for hours with this install problem. We made a wildcard subdomain, tried with and without .htaccess, with and without a wp-config.php file and all we keep getting is this redirect loop. They say it's a content issue and is internal to the MU installation.

I'm running several regular Wordpress installations under my hostgator account and they all operate flawlessly. Please advise.

Is your wpmu install in the same account as your wordpress installs? That's probably the problem. WPMu likes to be within the root of any account, not as an additional install. It's probably interfering with one of the wp installs.

I had WPMU running earlier today for testing but I wanted to do a fresh install, when I did that I started getting the redirect loop error after trying to login. Wrecked my head after about 4 reinstalls etc

This is what worked for me, in Firefox empty your cache, cookies etc ie (TOOLS > Clear private data...> in the toolbar.

This allowed me to login in Firefox but not Safari, I had to empty cache, delete cookies etc and this worked.

If you're in IE you'll probably have to empty cache and detele cookies and other info.

This is what worked for me anyways, hopefully it works for you because it definitely is a head wrecker especially for a novice like me.

Make sure that you test your site with no mu-plugins or plugins active.

I appeared to fix this problem once by going into the wp-options table in the database an clearing empty rows. I also deletd 3 rows with array in them that semed to fix the problem.
