How can I redirect

/somethingold/?p=244

to

http://blogs.example.com/blog/2009/07/20/some-new-other-story/

Anybody out there?

Change your permalink structure. That should mean any link urls written out by the site have the long urls and not the short ones.

Those are two different blogs. Same content, new location. New location has better permalink structure already.
How to I not lose page rank and have Google see a 301 for the content /somethingold/?p=244
