moved photocrati theme to WordPress mu. their tech is "unsure how the PHP files call to one another" in mu. i added <p> Blog </p> to footer.php and set up theme according to their tech support but still receive a blank page when i click on blog page? as a newbi, i think the Permalinks may not be configured properly.

    blank page means php error.

As a newbie trying to get a theme that is possibly not WPMU compatible is probably not a good place to start, and if their own tech people are saying things like that......

thanks for reply steve. do you know what file is being modified when 1) Go to your Wordpress Dashboard >> Reading >> Set your Static Page
    2) Set Front Page as: 'Home' and Set Posts Page as: 'Blog'?

    Sure

Basically it allows to either show a dynamic front page (i,e, the posts part of your blog) or a fixed page. On my primary blog I've set the front page to be a page called Welcome.

If you've set a page called blog up then that page, when you click on it, will show the posts from your blog.

Does that make any more sense. If in doubt try playing with the various options and see how it works for you.

Yes this makes complete sense to me.

Before i moved the theme to mu, it worked just fine. I think all i have to do is tweak the permalink on my newly created blog page to get it to work, but do not know how.

When i set Home as my static page and Blog as my post page, i am unable to navigate to my blog with all my posts and comments?

If i do not set the static page and blog which is how my site is now, when you come to it, my blog with all my posts is the first page of my site. If you click on home tab, it brings you to the gallery of photos (what i want). If you click on the blog tab which is the blog page i created, it is blank? i think that the permalink for the blog page should be changed to "http://larryprentice.com/blogs/pics/" instead of http://larryprentice.com/blogs/pics/?page_id=564.

If you click on the Prentice Sports & Portrait Photography text on top of my site it brings you to my blog pages. When i set static page to home and blog as my posts and click the text, it brings me to the home page but i am unable to get to my blog with my comments and posts.

    Hope this makes sense.

Which gallery plugin are you using? your permalink problem could just be an interaction between things, especially if the plugins and themes are not 100% WPMU compatible.

Ah, so its one of those fancy photoblogging themes. I think they often do very funky things. I know when I played around with a couple they really just didn't seem to seem to be totally happy unless they were running against normal single blog WP and even then some of the URLs and navigation seemed to be a bit wrong - well wrong to me!

Nothing is being changed - its purely done inside the database.

thanks i did not know that. i have many years of database experience with microsoft technology so maybe i could figure out how to tweak the db record if i can find the table being updated.

I also seem to remember that one of photo gallery plugins I played around with didn't support "fancy" urls out of the box which means you might have to start editing plugin code which is always a pain.

i do not think editing plugin code is the way to go. i am hoping that tech support will be able to help me solve this issue.

thanks for all your help. happy holidays!
