When you upload the images, WP, automagically creates multiple sizes from which you can pick to place in your post. Pick a smaller one.

Posted 14 years ago #You may also want to look at Resize At Upload Plus. If memory serves, WP keeps the original image. You can use this plugin to save a lot of server space.
