WordPress MU

OK - I'm completely stuck and have been searching for answers, but not even quite sure how to search for this one, so please bear with me.

I've installed WPMU 2.9.1 and it works fabulously - inside our network. However, when I try to access it from the public, I have problems.

I'm using XAMPP on Windows 2008. I know that Apache is serving up pages correctly, because I can go to:

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/index2.php

it shows my phpinfo just like it should. However, if I try to go to:

http://wordpress.foo.bar/index2.php - the exact same page - I get a 404: can't be found. It looks like it may be adding www to the front of the URL but it passes so quickly that I can't be sure. If I just try to go to:

http://wordpress.foo.bar

I have the same 404: can't be found problem.

Like I said, from inside my network, it works without a hitch - however, I did have some strange problems inside that may have been related but fixed them when we built an alias and didn't try to use the IP.

I'm sure I'll need to provide more information, but at least this can be a starting point I hope. Thanks in advance for all your help.

is the 404 a WP 404 or a server 404?

Is routing set up on the firewall to forward all the requests for that domain to the relevant server inside your networks?

Steve - Thanks for the reply - it is a server 404. The URL for that server is:

http://wordpress.tccd.edu

IP for same box is:

http://64.28.242.220

If you go to:

http://wordpress.tccd.edu/index2.html

that doesn't work, BUT

http://64.28.242.220/index2.html

that does work.

Let me know if you need anything else.

As far as routing goes, I'm told the firewall is set to forward the requests to the proper place.

Something's up as it's not resolving that for me. I'm showing wordpress.tccd.edu as being 208.69.32.132.
