[Theme-my-Profile] Does not redirect properly (11 posts)

    Hi,

I want to use the Theme my profile plugin for WPMU but for some reason it does not work. When I activate the plugin sitewide I can view all blogs homepages as long as I am LOGGED IN. When I log out and try to visit a blog's homepage, for example subblog.mydomain.com, then I get an error saying that the server redirects in a way that will never be complete.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Do I need to add something to my htaccess file? Any ideas?

    Thanks to all!!!

At a guess its something to do with how its picking up the blog information (or not as the case might be)

But what could be the result? I basically installed WPMU (GoDaddy Hosting) and tried out the plugin right, so no modification to any files or so, and it didn't work. Any idea what why it wouldn't pick up the blog information right?

Have you asked godaddy support? They have to set up the wildcard subdomains, so if it's not working, it's an issue with them.

I did set up the wildcard subdomains before I installed MU. During the installation WordPress then told me that they were not able to create a test subdomain but it also says that this test is not dummy proof. So I checked and I am able to create a blog on a subdomain such as subblog.mydomain.com. So I guess the wildcard setup should be fine, right?

The weird thing is that I can visit any blog without any problems but as soon as I turn on the plugin (Theme my Profile) I get this redirect error.

Creating a blog has nothing to do with actually making sure the wildcard subs work. So it's not a good indicator.

Hmmm ... but when I can access a blog on a subdomain such as mysubdomain.mydomain.com, then the wildcard subs must work!? Otherwise I would get an error when trying to open this domain, right?

Are you sure you're using the plugin correctly and it works with MU?

I believe that I use the plugin correctly as there is not much room for any customization. I activated it sitewide and created on the subblog the page 'Profile' with the appropriate short-code.

As I said, the weird thing is that I can visit each blog as long as I am logged in the admin section and I can also visit all profiles on each blog. After I have logged out and try to visit the blog I get the redirect error.

I've seen this before - I think its something to do with the blog ID. I had a non WPMU plugin that worked fine until I logged out.

andrea_r, you might be right and there is some incompatibility with mu. I just realized that my passwords ends up in the biographical info box etc. I will look further into that and try to figure out the problem.

But thank you for you help! I really appreciate it...
