Pinging for Future Posts (3 posts)

Is there a plugin out there that allows future posts to send out a ping when they are finally active?

While searching around for an appropriate plugin I came acrossed one that addresses an issue with the wordpress pinging system. I'm not sure if MU operates in the same fashion but apparently there is a problem with wordpress where-in future posts are pinged when created not when they go live and edits to existing posts also create a ping. According to the site offering the plugin, this excesive pinging can get your site banned from the pinging services.

Can anyone "in the know" confirm or deny this excessive pinging danger?

I believe that WPMU (and WP) does this already. I've had no issues with my webcomic except for when Pingomatic or Tech. is "not working the way they're suppose to be."

Also check and see what version of WP the plugin was written for. There are many out there written for 1.5 or even 1.2, and as such, are rendered kinda dead at this point.

And by excessive pinging, most places mean more than a few times within say, a half-hour.
